The Sweltering, Sweet Berms of the ProGRT Grom Bomb
This weekend the Spring National ProGRT came to my home bike park, Mountain Creek. Thanks to the efforts of Clay Harper, the USO Grom Bomb was added as an event for us kids and I was stoked to race.
With blazing sun, temperatures in the 90s, and a sculpted blue/green race course, it couldn't have been any more different than my last race at Plattekill. I knew the race course well, a trail called Indy that rides like a pump track. I knew if I could clear the table tops and rail the berms I'd be able to carry speed all the way through.
I did bunch of practice laps with my friends - it was so awesome to see and hang out with all the familiar faces. These races are such great social occasions, I love it when our tribe of groms gets together.
For the race, I ran a fast, clean run, just like in practice and it got me first place. Happy birthday to me! My birthday was the next day, and we celebrated with cake after the race.
2018 has been off to a great start and I'm loving it! See you on the trails.
