A Weekend at Ray's Indoor Bike Park

It’s the dead of winter, it’s cold, snow is blowing, time to go mountain biking…in Cleveland! I was invited to join my new race teammates (announcement coming soon!) at Ray’s Indoor Bike Park. I had heard about this place and seen photos but still wasn’t prepared for how awesome and huge the place is. It’s a 120,000 SF converted parachute factory with flow trails, jump trails, tech trails, a pump track, foam pit, and more.

The ideal bike for the park is a dirt jumper. I don’t own one so I rented one, which was a little big but I made it work. We spent almost 7 hours at the place on Saturday and was completed thrashed when we left and headed to dinner that night.

On Sunday, I started to get a better feel for the jumps and lips and started throwing some style into my airs. I loved the pump track and the tech skinnies. Then I discovered the foam pit! Rental bikes aren’t allowed in the foam pit/resi box area, but I was graciously lent a bike by one of my new teammates. I had one handers solid pretty quick, then moved on to trying t-bogs and no handers, which I did successfully land to foam. On one attempt, I had a pedal slip just as I was hitting the ramp and had to eject (video above!).

It’s so rad that Ray’s exists and I can’t wait to return.
