NW Cup Finals in Port Angeles

It was back up to Port Angeles for the fifth and final round of the NW Cup. It was my third time racing Dry Hill this season and I have come to really like the venue. I was really looking forward to getting into the lush forests and sending it down the sweet, fast trails.

The race track this round was a combo of trails from previous rounds. I enjoyed the familiarity of the trails and racers that I have become friends with over the season. The weather was perfect (sunny when it needed to be with just enough PNW moisture and mist to keep the trails prime).

After practice on Saturday, I was again visited the groves of old growth trees in Olympic National Park. It’s a comforting break from the intensity of racing.

On Sunday, my race run went as planned and I gave it my all. I ended up 14th. I was happy to break the Top 15 in this super competitive Cat 2. I also ended up with 14th in the overall. I couldn’t help but think if I hadn’t washed out on my race run in Montana that would have been higher. But that’s racing and I had a great time at all the venues this season and can’t wait to do it again next year. See you on the track in 2022!
